Chasselas, which draws its aromas from the soils of Lavaux, is a wonderful accompaniment to the region’s local products. Cheeses and fish are elevated by this emblematic wine of Vaud.
Other culinary discoveries await you in the surrounding area, with the promise of beautiful encounters during your visits.
Wines
If Chasselas is the most cultivated grape variety in Lavaux, about thirty other grape varieties are present in the terraced vineyards. It is possible to taste white grape varieties such as Gewürztraminer or Pinot gris, but also red grape varieties such as Pinot noir, Gamay, Gamaret or Garanoir.
Some ancient grape varieties are gradually being rehabilitated by certain winemakers. This is the case of Plant Robert, an old Gamay grape variety. Almost disappeared in 1966, it is now cultivated on small plots of land in Lavaux by a group of passionate winegrowers, united under the banner of the Association PLANT ROBERT. The spicy and even peppery notes of this red wine are certainly worth a taste.

Fish
Lavaux overlooks Lake Geneva, which is the natural habitat of many lake fish local artisans use to make several products, like smoked fillets or spreads.
This is notably the case of the Armoire à Brume, in Forel-Lavaux, and the Terroir du Léman in Vevey.
Le Terroir du Léman
While gourmets may know the perches, the chars, the féras, the trout and the pikes living in Lake of Geneva, they might not know that in reality, these fish represent only 20% of the aquatic fauna.
Terroir du Léman, a company based in Vevey, offers a range of spreadable creams made from forgotten fish such as roach, bream, tench and sheepshead, as well as other local products such as truffles from the north of the canton of Vaud and black garlic.
Get these products in local specialty stores or via the online shop!
Armoire à Brume

Craft beers
If you are fond of white wine but also of beer, Lavaux is made for you, because it is in Puidoux that Dr.Gab’s “treats evil with malt”!

You can buy them in many specialized stores in the country as well as in supermarkets, but also directly on site or via the online shop.
Storytime
The story of this brewery begins in 2000, when Gabriel Hasler receives a craft beer kit. It didn’t take long before he convinced his friends to get into the craft brewing business.
With only 20 litres brewed in the heights of Lausanne in 2001, it is now several thousand litres that are produced by Dr.Gabs in Puidoux since 2018.
Behind the scenes
It is now possible to discover the backstage of Dr.Gab’s craft brewery! Visits and tastings are available upon registration.
